About Chosen Sounds

IMG_2631_edited_edited_edited.png

Hi, my name is Gavin. Music has been a constant in my life for over 35 years, and I first started mixing records on vinyl in the early 2000s.

DJing has been part of my world ever since, even as life and work have taken me in different directions.

Alongside DJing, I’ve continued to stay hands-on with music through live playing, creating my own material, and working with multitrack recordings and mixing.

After years of fitting music around office work and other commitments, I’ve been fortunate enough to put myself in a position where Chosen Sounds can be more than just a side project.

It’s long been an ambition of mine to take this on full-time, and to finally give proper space to something that’s always mattered to me.

It also allows me to approach events with the care and headspace they deserve — thinking about how a night should feel, not just what gets played.

How I work

I am an open format DJ. I will play most styles and am comfortable moving between multiple genres in the same set.

I don't have rigid prices because the cost depends on what you need, how long you need me for, and where your party is happening.  I always include all of my equipment as part of any booking and am flexible around timings.  On average it takes me 90 minutes to set up and 60 minutes to pack away so be sure to factor those times into any venue reservations you have.

If you fill in one of my event forms, or give me a call using the number at the bottom of the page, I can quickly put a price together. I take a non-refundable admin fee of 25% to secure the booking, with the balance due two weeks before the event. Once everything is agreed, I’ll provide a simple written agreement so everything is clearly confirmed.

Most importantly, I love my job! playing music that makes people want to dance and giving you a packed dancefloor is about as good as any work can get

If it sounds like a good fit, please get in touch.

I own a huge range of music from the 60s right through to current charts, and I’m always adding to it. I’m also subscribed to Beatport Pro+, which gives me access to a massive catalogue alongside my own library.

For events I mainly work from downloaded music curated from the brief we discussed in advance, I back this up with a few thousand classics as well as streaming options to ensure I can do requests.0

Personally, my taste is eclectic, I listen to a lot of rock and metal but grew up on house and techno, and love all things 80's and 90's.
